ਏਸ ਪੀ ਸਿੰਘ ਓਬੇਰਾਏ , 59 ਸਾਲ ਦੇ ਓਬੇਰਾਏ ਦੁਬਈ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਿਜਨੇਸ ਮੈਨ ਹਨ ।

 ਉਹ ਯੂਏਈ ਦੀਆਂ ਜੇਲਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੰਦ ਮੌਤ ਦੀ ਸਜਾ ਪਾਉਣ ਵਾਲੇ 54 ਦੋਸ਼ੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਚਾ ਚੁੱਕੇ ਹਨ । 

ਹੁਣ ਉਹ 30 ਹੋਰ ਕੈਦੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਜੇਲਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਕੱਢਣ ਦੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਕਰ ਰਹ ਹਨ । 

ਉਹ 17 ਭਾਰਤੀ ਕੈਦੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਜੇਲ੍ਹ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਛਡਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਹੁਣ ਤੱਕ 3 . 4 ਮਿਲਿਅਨ ਦਿਰਹਮ ( 5. 7 

ਕਰੋਡ਼ ਰੁਪਏ ) ਦੀ ਬਲਡ ਮਨੀ ਦੇ ਚੁੱਕੇ ਹਨ|। ਬਲਡ ਮਨੀ  ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦਾ ਮਤਲੱਬ ਹੈ

 ਉਸ ਪਰਵਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਜਾਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਮੁਆਵਜਾ , ਜਿਸਦੇ ਮੈਂਬਰ ਦੀ ਦੋਸ਼ੀ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਹੱਤਿਆ ਕੀਤੀ 

ਗਈ ਹੋਵੇ । ਜਨਵਰੀ 2009 ਵਿੱਚ ਜਦੋਂ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਵਾਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਇੱਕ ਮੌਤ ਦੀ ਸੱਜਿਆ ਪਾਏ ਭਾਰਤੀ 

ਦੇ ਬਾਰੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੁਣਿਆ ਤਾਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਹਿਲਾ ਖਿਆਲ ਆਇਆ ਕਿ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਸ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਦੇ 

ਪਰਵਾਰ ਉੱਤੇ ਕੀ ਗੁਜ਼ਰ ਰਹੀ ਹੋਵੇਗੀ । ਉਸਦੇ ਘਰ ਦਾ ਮਾਹੌਲ ਕਿੰਨਾ ਤਣਾਅ ਭੱਰਿਆ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ । 

ਤੱਦ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਮਾਮਲੇ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੱਥ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੈਣ ਦਾ ਫੈਸਲਾ ਕੀਤਾ । ਓਹਨਾਂ ਨਾ ਸਿਰਫ ਭਾਰਤੀ

 ਨੂੰ ਸਗੋਂ ਮੁਸਲਮਾਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਲੱਖਾਂ ਕਰੋੜਾਂ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਨਵੀਂ ਜਿੰਦਗੀ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ . . ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੇ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ 

ਏਸਪੀ ਸਿੰਘ ਓਬੇਰਾਏ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਕੰਮ ਦੀ ਸ਼ੁਰੁਆਤ 1970 ਵਿੱਚ ਮੈਕੇਨਿਕ ਦੇ ਤੌਰ ਉੱਤੇ ਕੀਤੀ । 

1975 ਦੇ ਬਾਅਦ ਉਹ ਮੈਟੇਰਿਅਲ ਸਪਲਾਈ ਅਤੇ ਕੰਸਟਰਕਸ਼ਨ ਦੇ ਬਿਜਨੇਸ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜ ਗਏ । 18

 ਸਾਲ ਦੀ ਕੜੀ ਮਿਹਨਤ ਦੇ ਜੋਰ ਉੱਤੇ ਅੱਜ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਦੁਬਈ ਗਰੈਂਡ ਹੋਟਲ ਅਤੇ ਏਪੇਕਸ ਗਰੁਪ

 ਆਫ ਕੰਪਨੀਜ ਹੈ । ਇੱਥੇ ਨਹੀਂ , ਉਹ ਹੁਣ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੀ ਸਭਤੋਂ ਉੱਚੀ ਇਮਾਰਤ ਬੁਰਜ ਖਲੀਫਾ ਵਿੱਚ 

ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ । ਓਬੇਰਾਏ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਕੈਦੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਮਦਦ ਲਈ ਅਕਸਰ ਯੂਏਈ ਦੀਆਂ ਜੇਲਾਂ ਦੇ ਚੱਕਰ 

ਲਗਾਉਂਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ । ਇਸ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਉਹ ਇੱਕ ਘਟਨਾ ਦਾ ਜਿਕਰ ਕਰਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਓਬੇਰਾਏ ਕਹਿੰਦੇ 

ਹਨ , ਯੂਏਈ ਵਿੱਚ 17ਭਾਰਤੀ ਕੈਦੀ ਜੇਲ੍ਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੰਦ ਸਨ । ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਂ - ਬਾਪ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾਉਣ 

ਦੀ ਵਿਵਸਥਾ ਕੀਤੀ । ਓਬੇਰਾਏ ਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਇੱਕ ਲੰਮੀ ਕਾਂਟੇਕਟ ਲਿਸਟ ਹੈ । ਇਸਦੀ ਮਦਦ ਨਾਲ ਉਹ 

ਸਾਰੇ ਛੁੱਟੇ ਹੋਏ ਕੈਦੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਲਗਾਤਾਰ ਸੰਪਰਕ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ । ਜੇਕਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਸਮਾਂ 

ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਭਾਰਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਣ ਚਲੇ ਆਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ । ਉਹ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾ ਛੁੱਟਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਕੈਦੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ 

ਅਹਿਸਾਸ ਦਵਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਕਿ ਦੋਸ਼ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਜਿੰਦਗੀ ਬਰਬਾਦ ਹੋ ਗਈ । ਕੈਦੀ ਇਸ ਦੇ 

ਬਾਅਦ ਵਾਪਸ ਮਿਹਨਤ ਦੇ ਦਮ ਉੱਤੇ ਕਮਾਣ ਦੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ . . ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਇਸ ਮਹਾਨ 

ਆਦਮੀ ਨੂੰ ਸਲਾਮ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਜੋ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕੰਮ ਨਾ ਮਿਲਣ ਉੱਤੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਹੀ ਕੰਪਨੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਰੋਜਗਾਰ

 ਵੀ ਉਪਲੱਬਧ ਕਰਵਾ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ . . ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਟਰੱਸਟ ਸਰਬਤ ਦਾ ਭਲਾ ਹੁਣ ਤੱਕ 18 ਹਜਾਰ ਤੋਂ 

ਜ਼ਿਆਦਾ ਸਿੱਖ , ਹਿੰਦੂ , ਮੁਸਲਮਾਨ ਕਮਿਊਨਿਟੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਈ ਵਾਰ ਸਾਮੂਹਕ ਸ਼ਾਦੀਆਂ ਕਰਾ ਚੁੱਕੇ ਹਨ

ਵਰਤਮਾਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਹ ਆਰਥਕ ਰੂਪ ਨਾਲ ਕਮਜੋਰ 425 ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਮਦਦ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ 

ਅਤੇ ਕਈ ਅਸਪਤਾਲਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦਾਨ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ । ਉਹ ਬੁਜੁਰਗ ਕੈਂਸਰ ਪੀੜਤਾਂ ਲਈ ਘਰ ਬਣਵਾ ਰਹੇ 

ਹਨ । ਅਜਿਹੇ ਬੁਜੁਰਗ , ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਬੱਚੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਧਿਆਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ , ਉਹ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ 

ਖਿਆਲ ਰੱਖਣ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਬੰਦ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ।

ਫਿਲੀਪਾਈਨ 'ਚ ਗ੍ਰਿਫਤਾਰ ਬੱਬੂ ਮਾਨ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਥੀ ਰਿਹਾਅ

ਮਨੀਲਾ - ਫਿਲਪਾਈਨ ਦੇ ਇਮੀਗ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਨ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੇ ਚਰਚਿਤ ਗਾਇਕ ਬੱਬੂ ਮਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਥੀਆਂ ਸਮੇਤ ਗ੍ਰਿਫਤਾਰ ਕੀਤੇ ਜਾਣ ਦੀ ਖਬਰ ਦੇ ਅੱਗ ਵਾਂਗੂੰ ਫੈਲ ਜਾਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਐਤਵਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਰਿਹਾਅ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ। ਖਬਰ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਬੱਬੂ ਮਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਫਿਲੀਪਾਈਨ ਵਿਚ ਉਸ ਦੇ 15 ਸਾਥੀਆਂ ਸਮੇਤ ਗ੍ਰਿਫਤਾਰ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ। ਉਹ ਯੋਲਾਂਡਾ ਦੇ ਪੀੜਤਾਂ ਲਈ ਫੰਡ ਇਕੱਠਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਇਕ ਚੈਰਿਟੀ ਸ਼ੋਅ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਫਿਲਪਾਈਨ ਵਿਚ ਗਏ ਸਨ। ਉੱਥੇ 4 ਦਸੰਬਰ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਸ਼ੋਅ ਸਮਾਪਤ ਕਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਫਿਲਪਾਈਨ ਦੇ ਇਮੀਗ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਨ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਦੇ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗੀਤ ਮੰਡਲੀ 'ਚ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ 15 ਹੋਰ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਮੈਂਬਰਾਂ ਸਮੇਤ ਗ੍ਰਿਫਤਾਰ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕੋਲੋਂ ਪੈਸਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਮੰਗ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ। ਬੱਬੂ ਮਾਨ ਦੇ ਗਰੁੱਪ ਦੇ ਮੈਨੇਜਰ ਦਾ ਕਹਿਣਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਦੌਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਸੰਬੰਧਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਕਾਗਜ਼ਾਤ ਸਨ ਅਤੇ ਪੱਤਰ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਦੇ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਪੇਸ਼ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਸੀ ਪਰ ਜਦੋਂ ਬੱਬੂ ਦੇ ਟੀਮ ਮੈਨੇਜਰ ਨੇ ਰਿਸ਼ਵਤ ਦੇਣ ਤੋਂ ਇਨਕਾਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਤਾਂ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਗ੍ਰਿਫਤਾਰ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਇਕ ਜਾਂਚ ਕੇਂਦਰ ਵਿਚ ਢੱਕ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
ਬੱਬੂ ਮਾਨ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਸੰਬੰਧ ਵਿਚ ਮੀਡੀਆ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਦਿੰਦਿਆਂ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਉਕਤ ਪੁੱਛ-ਗਿੱਛ ਕੇਂਦਰ ਵਿਚ ਸਮਰੱਥਾ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਲੋਕ ਬੰਦ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਫਰਸ਼ 'ਤੇ ਸੌਂਣਾ ਪਿਆ। ਜੇਲ ਵਿਚ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਅਪਰਾਧੀਆਂ ਵਰਗਾ ਸਲੂਕ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ। ਬੱਬੂ ਮਾਨ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਦੇ ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਦੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਦੇ ਟੂਰ ਕੀਤੇ ਹਨ ਪਰ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਸਲੂਕ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਵਾਰ ਫਿਲਪਾਈਨ ਵਿਚ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਉਹ ਭਵਿੱਖ ਵਿਚ ਕਦੇ ਵੀ ਫਿਲਪਾਈਨ ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਨਗੇ।

ਨਿਊਜ਼ੀਲੈਂਡ 'ਚ ਮਾਪੇ ਮੰਗਵਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਲੱਗ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ਸੱਤ ਸਾਲ ਦਾ ਸਮਾਂ

ਆਕਲੈਂਡ, 22 ਅਗਸਤ (ਹਰਜਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਬਸਿਆਲਾ)-ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਬਿਹਤਰ ਭਵਿੱਖ ਅਤੇ ਫਿਰ ਵਤਨੀ ਰਹਿ ਗਏ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਾਪਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਪੱਕੇ ਤੌਰ 'ਤੇ ਨਿਊਜ਼ੀਲੈਂਡ ਬੁਲਾਉਣ ਦਾ ਸੁਪਨਾ ਹੁਣ ਘੱਟ ਆਮਦਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਨੀਂਦਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਸੱਤ ਸਾਲ ਤੱਕ ਦੇ ਲਈ ਗਾਇਬ ਰਹਿ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਨਿਊਜ਼ੀਲੈਂਡ ਦੇ ਇਮੀਗ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਨ ਮੰਤਰਾਲੇ ਨੇ ਪਿਛਲੀ 16 ਮਈ ਤੋਂ ਦੇਸ਼ ਦੀ ਆਰਥਿਕਤਾ ਤੇ ਰਹਿਣ-ਸਹਿਣ ਦੇ ਉਚੇ ਮਾਪਦੰਢਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੁੱਖ ਰੱਖ ਅਮੀਰ ਅਤੇ ਗਰੀਬ ਦੀ ਵੰਡ ਕੁਝ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਕੀਤੀ ਕਿ ਘੱਟ ਆਮਦਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਦੀ ਅਰਜ਼ੀ ਨੂੰ ਪੱਕੇ ਹੋਣ ਦਾ ਵੀਜ਼ਾ-ਫਲ ਲੱਗਣ ਤੱਕ ਸੱਤ ਸਾਲ ਤੱਕ ਦਾ ਸਮਾਂ ਵੀ ਲੱਗ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਨਵੀਂ ਨੀਤੀ ਲਾਗੂ ਹੋਣ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਅਰਜ਼ੀ ਦਾਖਲ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੋਵੇਗੀ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪੰਜ ਸਾਲ ਤੱਕ ਦਾ ਸਮਾਂ ਲੱਗ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ। ਅਮੀਰ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਕਰੀਏ ਤਾਂ ਪੰਜ ਲੱਖ ਨਿਊਜ਼ੀਲੈਂਡ ਡਾਲਰ ਲਿਆਉਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਾਪੇ ਜਾਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਪਾਂਸਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਬੱਚੇ ਜੇਕਰ ਸਾਲਾਨਾ ਇਕ ਨਿਰਧਾਰਤ ਉੱਚ ਆਮਦਨ (65000 ਤੋਂ 90,000 ਡਾਲਰ ) ਰੱਖਦੇ ਹੋਣ। ਉਹ ਡੇਢ ਸਾਲ ਵਿਚ ਇਥੇ ਪਹਿਲ ਦੇ ਆਧਾਰ 'ਤੇ ਆ ਸਕਣਗੇ। ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਗਟਾਵਾ ਇਥੋਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਅਖ਼ਬਾਰ ਹੈਰਲਡ ਨੇ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਨਵੀਂ ਨੀਤੀ ਲਾਗੂ ਹੋਣ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਭਾਰਤ ਸਮੇਤ ਕਈ ਹੋਰ ਦੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਹਜ਼ਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਗਿਣਤੀ ਵਿਚ ਅਰਜ਼ੀਆਂ ਦਾਖਲ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀਆਂ ਸਨ, ਜੋ ਕਿ ਪੰਜ ਸਾਲ ਤੱਕ ਦੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਚਾਰੀਆਂ ਜਾਣ ਦੀ ਆਸ ਹੈ।

No service tax to be levied on NRI remittances: Finance Ministry

New Delhi, July 10

The Finance Ministry today clarified that no service tax would be levied on NRI remittances from overseas.

The clarification by the Central Board of Excise and Customs (CBEC), which functions under the Finance Ministry, follows concerns over reports that there was a move to levy 12 per cent tax on money sent back home by Indians abroad under the changed service tax regime from July 1.

The CBEC said in a circular “that the matter has been examined and it is clarified that there is no service tax per se on the amount of foreign currency remitted to India from overseas”. In the negative list regime, “service” excludes transaction in money. As the amount of remittance comprises money, the activity does not comprise a “service” and is not subjected to service tax, the circular clarifies.

It further added that “in case any fee or conversion charges are levied for sending such money, they are also not liable to service tax as the person sending the money and the company conducting the remittance are located outside India. Such services are deemed to be provided outside India and thus not liable to service tax”.

It has been further clarified that even the Indian counterpart bank or financial institution which charges the foreign bank for the services provided at the receiving end, is not liable to service tax as the place of provision of such service is outside India.

The clarification will alleviate concerns of NRIs as India is one of the top recipient of remittances ($64 billion in 2011), according to the World Bank data. Given the dire need for dollar at a time when current account deficit is high and Rupee is under pressure, any move to levy service tax on NRI remittances would have been disastrous.

CMs of Punjab and Kerala, which are among the states receiving the largest remittances from NRIs, had taken up the matter with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

M Rafeeque Ahmed, president, Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO), said that towards addressing the trade deficit, remittances were the single largest source of unconditional flow of foreign exchange into India, according to estimates by the World Bank. Given the slowdown and declining levels of foreign exchange, service tax could only act as a deterrent to precious incoming foreign exchange, he added.

He said the waiver of service tax on the same would ensure that this stable source of foreign exchange would continue to maintain the delicate balance of payments position of India at this moment of global crisis. 

WHY THE CLARIFICATION  Concerns were being expressed over reports that there was a move to levy 12% tax on money sent back home by Indians abroad under the changed service tax regime from July 1 THE FINAL WORD  The matter has been examined and it is clarified that there is no service tax per se on the amount of foreign currency remitted to India from overseas  As the amount of remittance comprises money, the activity does not comprise a “service” and is not subject to service tax  In case any fee or conversion charges are levied for sending such money, they are also not liable to service tax as the person sending the money and the company conducting the remittance are located outside India

Manpneet Kaur is crowned Miss Australia Punjaban 2012

Melbourne - Manpuneet Kaur Grewal a first year Accounting student at Melbourne's Deakin University, was crowned ‘Miss Australia Punjaban 2012’ at a well attended and appreciated event held here.  She has secured a place to compete with other contestants who will be representing other parts of the world and vying for the title of ‘Miss World Punjaban 2012’.

The main event is due to be held at Ludhiana in Punjab in November 2012.

Australian born Manpuneet Kaur, a 9’9” ‘Punjaban Mutiyar’ who resides in Melbourne and is studying commerce at Deccan University, impressed the judges with her beauty, knowledge and talent to bag the prestigious title.

Parminderjit Waraich from Brisbane finished Ist runner-up while Gagandeep Kaur from Melbourne was declared 2nd Runner-up.  

Ten beautiful Punjabans hailing from Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney took part in the show organized by Sabhayachark Sath Punjab in association with South Pacific Institute.

The different rounds showcasing talent of the contestants were of immense interest to the audience. The contestants danced to the tune of Punjabi folk songs, displayed special talents and had a question-answer round where they were asked questions related to Punjabi Heritage.

Jagpreet bagged award for Best folk Dance, Ramandeep Kaur bagged award for being declared ‘Gunwanti Panjaban, Baljit Kaur was declared ‘Sughar-Syani Punjaban’ and Rajdip Kaur was conferred with ‘Gidhian di Rani’ sub-title. Amrit Kaur, Navjot and Semris were given special prizes.

Renowned Literary Personality Dr.Satish Verma who had specially flown from India, SBS Radio Anchor Manpreet Kaur and known Bhangra Expert Varinder Saran, were the judges at the event.

Gurvinder Singh Nagra welcomed the guests and audience while Harleen Sohana and Dr. Preetinder Grewal were the anchors for the show.

Teams of ‘Folk Art’, ‘Bhangra Rockers’, ‘Bhangra Federation’ regaled the audience with their performances. Parddeep Kaur, Poonam and their team members also presented Punjabi dance items. Charnamit Singh made the audience laugh with his comedy items.

Punjabi woman Roopak Kaur Sodhi who is the first Punjaban to be recruited in Victoria Police and ‘Singh Sabha Bhangra Group’ – contestants of ‘Australia has got Talent’ were specially honoured for their contribution towards the community.  They were awarded by Harbhajan Singh Khaira and Kanwalpreet Singh Sandhu.
Ajit Singh Rahi’s book ‘Teeja Ghallughara’ was released during the show.

Chairman-Director Jasmer Singh Dhatt told ‘Yes Punjab’ that those who contributed their best to make the show a success include Amardeep Singh, Manjot Kaur Dhaliwal, Amanpreet Singh, Upkar Singh, Gurpal Singh, Jaskunwar Singh.  

Others present include Prem Singh Khaira and Ruban Sohana from Sydney, Jasmel Singh Khaira, Gurpreet Singh Sangha, Sukhdeep Deol, Imtiyaz Khan and Ravi.
The event, fourth of its kind in Australia, hosted under the direction and supervision of Chairman-Director Jasmer Singh Dhatt at Monash University’s Robert Blackwood Hall with a capacity of 1100 was well received and well attended.

Jasmer Dhatt said that ‘Miss World Punjaban 2012’ beauty pageant has taken  a start with Australia event and now the  pageant is scheduled to  travel to Europe, America, Canada, New Zealand and Pakistan where such events shall select more Punjabi beauties to take part in the finals to be held at Ludhiana.

  • 3. If you are an Indian citizen or a person of Indian origin who comes to India on a visit.
• If you are an NRI, only your income from India will be taxed. You don’t have to pay taxes on income earned abroad, even if you remit this income to India.
• An Indian citizen leaves India for the purpose of Employment, Education or Staty with parent, at the moment when he is leaving the India he becomes the NRI. In this case when the return period is un-certain then he will be considered as an NRI.

ਸਿਡਨੀ, ਮੈਲਬੌਰਨ, ਬ੍ਰਿਸਬੇਨ, 11 ਅਪ੍ਰੈਲ - ਸਿਡਨੀ ਵਿਚ ਇਸ ਵਾਰ ਹੋਈਆਂ ਸਿੱਖ ਖੇਡਾਂ ਜਿਸ ਵਿਚ ਦੂਰੋਂ-ਦੁਰੇਡਿਓਂ ਖੇਡ ਪ੍ਰੇਮੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਕੇ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣਿਆ ਕਈ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਕਾਫੀ ਫਿੱਕੀਆਂ ਵੀ ਰਹੀਆਂ। ਇਸ ਵਾਰ ਸਿਲਵਰ ਜੁਬਲੀ ਮਨਾਈ ਗਈ ਸੀ, 25ਵੀਆਂ ਸਿੱਖ ਖੇਡਾਂ ਕਰਵਾ ਕੇ। ਇਥੋਂ ਦੇ ਸਿੱਖ ਭਾਈਚਾਰੇ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਪੂਰੇ ਆਸਟ੍ਰੇਲੀਆ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਇਕੱਠੇ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਇਹ ਖੇਡਾਂ ਕਰਵਾਈਆਂ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਹਜ਼ਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਗਿਣਤੀ ਵਿਚ ਸਿੱਖ ਭਾਈਚਾਰੇ ਸਮੇਤ ਗੋਰੇ ਲੋਕ ਵੀ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬੜੇ ਉਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਨਾਲ ਦੇਖਦੇ ਹਨ। ਸਿਡਨੀ ਵਿਚ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਖੇਡਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਜਦੋਂ ਕਿ ਸਿਲਵਰ ਜੁਬਲੀ ਮਨਾਈ ਜਾ ਰਹੀ ਸੀ ਤੇ ਸਾਲ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਹੀ ਕਾਫੀ ਰੌਲਾ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਇਥੇ ਹੋ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਹਨ। ਕਈ ਕਮੀਆਂ ਕਾਫੀ ਰੜਕਦੀਆਂ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਪਹਿਲੇ ਦਿਨ ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧਕਾਂ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਲੰਗਰ ਦਾ ਸਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ। ਭਰੋਸੇਯੋਗ ਵਸੀਲਿਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਪਤਾ ਲੱਗਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਖੇਡਾਂ ਕਰਵਾਉਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਕਮੇਟੀ ਨੇ ਖੇਡ ਸਪਾਂਸਰਾਂ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਖਾਣੇ ਆਦਿ ਦੇ ਸਟਾਲ ਲਗਾਉਣੇ ਸੀ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਦਬਾਅ ਹੇਠ ਪਾਣੀ ਤੇ ਲੰਗਰ ਗਰਾਊਂਡ ਵਿਚ ਸਮੇਂ ਸਿਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਣ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਦੂਰੋਂ-ਦੂਰੋਂ ਆਏ ਖੇਡ ਪ੍ਰ੍ਰੇਮੀਆਂ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਬੱਚੇ, ਬੁੱਢੇ ਤੇ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਸਨ ਸਿਡਨੀ ਵਿਚ ਗਰਮ ਮੌਸਮ ਕਾਰਨ ਪਾਣੀ ਲੱਭਦੇ ਰਹੇ ਤੇ ਅਖੀਰ ਲੱਗੇ ਸਟਾਲਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਮਹਿੰਗੇ ਕੋਲਡ ਡਰਿੰਕ, ਪਾਣੀ ਦੀਆਂ ਬੋਤਲਾਂ ਤੇ ਖਾਣਾ ਖਰੀਦ ਕੇ ਖਾਂਦੇ ਰਹੇ। ਸਿੱਖ ਖੇਡਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਪਾਣੀ ਦੀ ਬੋਤਲ ਲਈ ਚਾਰ-ਚਾਰ ਡਾਲਰ ਤੱਕ ਖਰਚਣੇ ਪਏ । ਇਥੇ ਜਦੋਂ ਇਸ ਦਾ ਇਤਰਾਜ਼ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਤਾਂ ਅਗਲੇ ਦਿਨ ਕੁਝ ਸੁਧਾਰ ਨਜ਼ਰੀਂ ਪਿਆ। ਜਦੋਂ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਖੇਡਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਾਰੇ ਸਿਡਨੀ ਵਿਚ ਰੌਲਾ ਸੀ ਤਾਂ ਫਿਰ ਇਥੋਂ ਦੇ ਮੀਡੀਏ ਤੇ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਮੀਡੀਏ ਨੂੰ ਪੂਰੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿਸਾਰਿਆ ਗਿਆ। ਇਕ, ਦੋ ਅਖਬਾਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਕਿਧਰੇ ਵੀ ਪ੍ਰਮੁੱਖ ਚੈਨਲਾਂ 'ਤੇ ਖੇਡਾਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਕੋਈ ਖਬਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ। ਏਨਾ ਪੈਸਾ ਲਗਾ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧਕਾਂ ਦਾ ਫਰਜ਼ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ ਬਣਦਾ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੱਦਾ ਪੱਤਰ ਭੇਜਦੇ। ਛਪਾਏ ਗਏ ਸੋਵੀਨਰ 'ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਜੁਲੀਆ ਗਿਲਾਰਡ ਤੇ ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਮੰਤਰੀਆਂ, ਐਮ. ਪੀ. ਆਦਿ ਦੀਆਂ ਤਸਵੀਰਾਂ ਸਨ। ਮਨਾਈ ਤਾਂ ਸਿਲਵਰ ਜੁਬਲੀ ਜਾ ਰਹੀ ਸੀ ਤੇ ਨਿਊਜ਼ ਕਿਸੇ ਵੀ ਚੈਨਲ 'ਤੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ। ਇਕੱਠ ਹਜ਼ਾਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਸੀ ਤੇ ਇਥੇ ਵਸਦੇ ਬਾਕੀ ਭਾਈਚਾਰਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਤਾ ਵੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਗਰਾਊਂਡਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਏਨੀ ਭੀੜ ਕਿਉਂ ਹੈ? ਭਾਰਤੀ ਮੀਡੀਏ ਵਾਲੇ ਲੋਕਲ ਤੇ ਅੰਤਰਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਅਖਬਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਵੀ ਕਿਸੇ ਪ੍ਰਵਾਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤੀ। ਮੈਲਬੌਰਨ ਵਿਚ ਕਰਵਾਈਆਂ ਜਾ ਰਹੀਆਂ 2013 ਦੀਆਂ ਸਿੱਖ ਖੇਡਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਅਸੀਂ ਆਸ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਖੇਡਾਂ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧਕ ਜੋ ਊਣਤਾਈਆਂ ਰਹਿ ਗਈਆਂ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਧਾਰਨ ਦਾ ਯਤਨ ਕਰਨਗੇ। ਪ੍ਰਸਿੱਧ ਕਬੱਡੀ ਕੋਚ ਸ: ਕੁਲਦੀਪ ਸਿੰਘ ਬਾਸੀ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਵਾਰ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਮੀਡੀਏ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਲ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਚੱਲਣਗੇ। ਸ: ਹਰਭਜਨ ਸਿੰਘ ਖਹਿਰਾ ਨੇ ਵੀ ਭਰੋਸਾ ਦਿਵਾਇਆ ਕਿ ਜਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਮੀਡੀਏ ਨੂੰ ਇਥੇ ਵਿਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਗਿਆ, ਉਹ ਅਸੀਂ ਮੈਲਬੌਰਨ ਵਿਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਣ ਦਿਆਂਗੇ ਤੇ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਕਰਾਂਗੇ ਕਿ ਇਥੋਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਅੰਗਰੇਜ਼ੀ ਅਖਬਾਰਾਂ ਤੇ ਟੀ. ਵੀ., ਰੇਡੀਓ ਨੂੰ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਸੱਦਾ ਪੱਤਰ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਜਾਣ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਅਗਲੀਆਂ ਖੇਡਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਰਹਿ ਗਈਆਂ ਤਰੁੱਟੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੂਰ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਯਤਨ ਕਰਨਗੇ। ਪਹਿਲੇ ਦਿਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਇਥੋਂ ਦੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਘਰਾਂ ਰਿਵਸਬੀ ਤੇ ਪਾਰਕਲੀ ਦੀਆਂ ਕਮੇਟੀਆਂ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਲੰਗਰ ਦਾ ਸੁਚੱਜਾ ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧ ਕੀਤਾ ਤੇ ਸਾਰਾ ਦਿਨ ਗੁਰੂ ਕੇ ਲੰਗਰ ਅਤੁੱਟ ਚੱਲਦੇ ਰਹੇ। ਦੋ ਦਿਨ ਸੰਗਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਖਾਣ, ਪੀਣ ਦੀ ਕੋਈ ਮੁਸ਼ਕਿਲ ਨਾ ਆਈ।

ਮੈਲਬੌਰਨ, 12 ਅਪ੍ਰੈਲ - ਵਿਕਟੋਰੀਆ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਨੇ ਸਖਤ ਚਿਤਾਵਨੀ ਦਿੰਦਿਆਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਲੋਕ ਕਾਰ ਚਲਾਉਂਦੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਫੋਨ ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਕਰਨਗੇ ਉਹ ਭਾਰੀ ਜੁਰਮਾਨੇ ਅਦਾ ਕਰਨਗੇ ਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਲਾਇਸੰਸ ਦੇ ਪੁਆਇੰਟ ਵੀ ਜਾਣਗੇ। ਕਈ ਲੋਕ ਲਾਲ ਬੱਤੀ 'ਤੇ ਕਈ ਵਾਰ ਮੋਬਾਈਲ ਸੁਣਨ ਲੱਗ ਪੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਜਾਂ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਧਿਆਨ ਰੱਖਣ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਸਿਵਲ ਵਿਚ ਵੀ ਕਈ ਥਾਂ ਖੜ੍ਹੀ ਹੋ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ। ਪੁਲਿਸ ਦੇ ਬੁਲਾਰੇ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਇਥੇ ਬਹੁਤੇ ਹਾਦਸੇ ਮੋਬਾਈਲ ਫੋਨ ਕਰਕੇ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਸੋ ਇਸ ਕਰਕੇ ਇਹ ਸਖਤੀ ਵਰਤੀ ਜਾ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਆਖਿਆ ਕਿ ਸਿਵਲ ਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਇਸ ਉਪਰੇਸ਼ਨ ਨੂੰ ਕਰੇਗੀ ਜਿਸ ਵਿਚ ਬਿਨਾਂ ਸੀਟ ਬੈਲਟ ਕਾਰ ਚਲਾਉਣਾ, ਫੋਨ ਸੁਣਨਾ, ਸਪੀਡ ਆਦਿ ਜੁਰਮਾਨੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਜਾਣਗੇ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਕਈ ਲੋਕ ਲਾਈਟਾਂ 'ਤੇ ਫੋਨ ਸੁਣਦੇ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਉਹ ਸੋਚਦੇ ਹਨ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਰੁਕੇ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਠੀਕ ਨਹੀਂ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਵੀ ਜੁਰਮਾਨਾ ਹੈ।

ਸਿਡਨੀ, 8 ਅਪ੍ਰੈਲ - 25ਵੀਆਂ ਆਸਟ੍ਰੇਲੀਅਨ ਸਿੱਖ ਖੇਡਾਂ ਦੇ ਦੂਸਰੇ ਦਿਨ ਭਾਰੀ ਰੌਣਕਾਂ ਦੇਖਣ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲੀਆਂ। ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਖੇਡਾਂ ਦੀ ਮੁੱਖ ਖਿੱਚ ਕਬੱਡੀ, ਵਾਲੀਬਾਲ, ਫੁੱਟਬਾਲ, ਹਾਕੀ ਅਤੇ ਐਥਲਿਕਟਸ ਆਦਿ ਸਨ। ਸਿਡਨੀ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ-ਨਾਲ ਮੈਲਬਰੌਨ, ਐਡੀਲੇਡ, ਬ੍ਰਿਸਬੇਨ, ਕੈਨਬਰਾ ਆਦਿ ਤੋਂ ਵੀ ਖਿਡਾਰੀ ਅਤੇ ਦਰਸ਼ਕ ਇਕੱਠੇ ਹੋਏ। ਅਥਲੈਟਿਕਸ ਵਿਚ 100 ਮੀਟਰ ਅੰਡਰ 14 ਵਿਚ ਕੇਤਨਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਨੇ ਪਹਿਲਾ ਸਥਾਨ ਹਾਸਿਲ ਕੀਤਾ। ਹਾਕੀ ਵਿਚ ਬ੍ਰਿਸਬੇਨ, ਮਲੇਸ਼ੀਆ ਅਤੇ ਨਿਊਜ਼ੀਲੈਂਡ ਦੀਆਂ ਟੀਮਾਂ ਕੱਲ੍ਹ ਫਾਈਨਲ ਵਿਚ ਖੇਡਣਗੀਆਂ। ਮੈਲਬੌਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਚਰਨਾਮਤਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਅਤੇ ਸਿਡਨੀ ਤੋਂ ਰਣਜੀਤ ਖੈੜਾ ਮੁੱਖ ਤੌਰ 'ਤੇ ਕੁਮੈਂਟਰੀ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਕਬੱਡੀ ਦੀ ਗਰਾਊਂਡ ਵਿਚ ਪਹੁੰਚੇ। ਇਥੇ ਇਹ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਗੁਰਦੁਆਰਾ ਪਾਰਕਲੀ ਦੀ ਪੂਰੀ ਐਸੋਸੀਏਸ਼ਨ ਅਤੇ ਗੁਰਦੁਅਰਾ ਰੀਵਸਟੀ ਦੀ ਸੰਸਥਾ ਅਤੇ ਮਹਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਬਿੱਟਾ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਦਾ ਅਤੁੱਟ ਲੰਗਰ ਵਰਤਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ। ਸਟਾਲਾਂ 'ਤੇ ਭੋਜਨ ਕਾਫੀ ਮਹਿੰਗੇ ਭਾਅ ਵਿਕ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ। ਗਿੱਧੇ ਦੀ ਟੀਮ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਹਰਭਜਨ ਸਿੰਘ ਖਹਿਰਾ ਆਏ। ਖੇਡਾਂ ਦੇ ਅਖੀਰ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗਾਰੰਗ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਪੇਸ਼ ਕੀਤਾ।

ਉੱਚ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਲਈ ਆਸਟ੍ਰੇਲੀਆ ਦਾ ਵੀਜ਼ਾ ਲੈਣਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ ਅੱਜ ਤੋਂ ਸੌਖਾ

ਨਵੀਂ ਦਿੱਲੀ, 25 ਮਾਰਚ (ਏਜੰਸ)- ਅੱਜ ਤੋਂ ਲਾਗੂ ਹੋ ਰਹੀ ਨਵੀਂ ਵੀਜ਼ਾ ਪ੍ਰਣਾਲੀ ਤਹਿਤ ਆਸਟ੍ਰੇਲੀਆ 'ਚ ਉਚੇਰੀ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਲਈ ਜਾਣਾ ਆਸਾਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ। ਹੁਣ ਆਸਟ੍ਰੇਲੀਆ ਦੀਆਂ ਪ੍ਰਵਾਨਤ ਯੁਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀਆਂ ਵਿਚ ਗਰੈਜੂਏਸ਼ਨ, ਪੋਸਟ ਗਰੈਜੂਏਸ਼ਨ ਜਾਂ ਪੀ. ਐਚ. ਡੀ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਵੀਜ਼ਾ ਲੈਣ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਘੱਟ ਦਸਤਾਵੇਜ਼ ਦੇਣੇ ਪੈਣਗੇ। ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਇਲਾਵਾ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਲਈ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਨ ਦੀਆਂ ਸ਼ਰਤਾਂ ਵੀ ਨਰਮ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀਆਂ ਗਈਆਂ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀ ਦੋ ਹਫਤਿਆਂ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਵਧ ਤੋਂ ਵਧ 40 ਘੰਟੇ ਕੰਮ ਕਰ ਸਕਣਗੇ ਜਦ ਕਿ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਹਰੇਕ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀ ਇਕ ਹਫਤੇ ਦੌਰਾਨ 20 ਘੰਟੇ ਤੋਂ ਵਧ ਕੰਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ।

ਮੈਲਬੌਰਨ, 11 ਮਾਰਚ - ਸਿੰਘ ਸਭਾ ਸਪੋਰਟਸ ਕਲੱਬ ਮੈਲਬੌਰਨ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਕਬੱਡੀ ਖਿਡਾਰੀ ਅਤੇ ਇਥੋਂ ਦੇ ਜਨਮੇ ਸ: ਨਵਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਗਰੇਵਾਲ ਨੂੰ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵਧੀਆ ਸਟੌਪਰ ਐਵਾਰਡ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਸਨਮਾਨਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ। ਕਲੱਬ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੋਫੈਸਰ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਨਵਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਬਹੁਤ ਵਧੀਆ ਕਬੱਡੀ ਦਾ ਖਿਡਾਰੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਇਥੇ ਜਨਮ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਇਸ ਖੇਡ ਦੇ ਸ਼ੌਕ ਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਬਰਕਰਾਰ ਰੱਖਿਆ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਇਨਸਾਨ ਜੇਕਰ ਮਿਹਨਤ ਕਰੇ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਜਿਸ ਖੇਤਰ 'ਚ ਵੀ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਸ਼ੌਕ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਉਸ ਹੀ ਖੇਤਰ 'ਚ ਤਰੱਕੀ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ। ਨਵਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਗਰੇਵਾਲ ਗੁਰਦੁਆਰਾ ਕਰੇਗੀਬਰਨ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਸ: ਪਰਮਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਗਰੇਵਾਲ ਦਾ ਸਪੁੱਤਰ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਸਮੇਂ ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਇਲਾਵਾ ਕਲੱਬ ਦੇ ਜਨਰਲ ਸਕੱਤਰ ਸ: ਰੌਨੀ ਰੰਧਾਵਾ, ਸਤਨਾਮ ਸਿੰਘ ਪਾਬਲਾ, ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਤੇਜਪਾਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਢਿੱਲੋਂ, ਸ਼ਿੰਗਾਰਾ ਸਿੰਘ, ਹਰਨੇਕ ਸਿੰਘ ਬੱਧਨੀ ਖੁਰਦ, ਸਰਬਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੌਹਲ, ਅਮਰੀਕ ਸਿੰਘ ਵਿਰਕ, ਦਾਰਾ ਸਿੰਘ ਔਜਲਾ, ਸੁਖਵਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੁਸਾਂਝ ਤੇ ਗੁਰਦੁਆਰਾ ਕਰੇਗੀਬਰਨ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਪਰਮਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਗਰੇਵਾਲ ਹਾਜ਼ਰ ਸਨ।
