ਏਸ ਪੀ ਸਿੰਘ ਓਬੇਰਾਏ , 59 ਸਾਲ ਦੇ ਓਬੇਰਾਏ ਦੁਬਈ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਿਜਨੇਸ ਮੈਨ ਹਨ ।

 ਉਹ ਯੂਏਈ ਦੀਆਂ ਜੇਲਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੰਦ ਮੌਤ ਦੀ ਸਜਾ ਪਾਉਣ ਵਾਲੇ 54 ਦੋਸ਼ੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਚਾ ਚੁੱਕੇ ਹਨ । 

ਹੁਣ ਉਹ 30 ਹੋਰ ਕੈਦੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਜੇਲਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਕੱਢਣ ਦੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਕਰ ਰਹ ਹਨ । 

ਉਹ 17 ਭਾਰਤੀ ਕੈਦੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਜੇਲ੍ਹ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਛਡਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਹੁਣ ਤੱਕ 3 . 4 ਮਿਲਿਅਨ ਦਿਰਹਮ ( 5. 7 

ਕਰੋਡ਼ ਰੁਪਏ ) ਦੀ ਬਲਡ ਮਨੀ ਦੇ ਚੁੱਕੇ ਹਨ|। ਬਲਡ ਮਨੀ  ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦਾ ਮਤਲੱਬ ਹੈ

 ਉਸ ਪਰਵਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਜਾਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਮੁਆਵਜਾ , ਜਿਸਦੇ ਮੈਂਬਰ ਦੀ ਦੋਸ਼ੀ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਹੱਤਿਆ ਕੀਤੀ 

ਗਈ ਹੋਵੇ । ਜਨਵਰੀ 2009 ਵਿੱਚ ਜਦੋਂ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਵਾਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਇੱਕ ਮੌਤ ਦੀ ਸੱਜਿਆ ਪਾਏ ਭਾਰਤੀ 

ਦੇ ਬਾਰੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੁਣਿਆ ਤਾਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਹਿਲਾ ਖਿਆਲ ਆਇਆ ਕਿ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਸ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਦੇ 

ਪਰਵਾਰ ਉੱਤੇ ਕੀ ਗੁਜ਼ਰ ਰਹੀ ਹੋਵੇਗੀ । ਉਸਦੇ ਘਰ ਦਾ ਮਾਹੌਲ ਕਿੰਨਾ ਤਣਾਅ ਭੱਰਿਆ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ । 

ਤੱਦ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਮਾਮਲੇ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੱਥ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੈਣ ਦਾ ਫੈਸਲਾ ਕੀਤਾ । ਓਹਨਾਂ ਨਾ ਸਿਰਫ ਭਾਰਤੀ

 ਨੂੰ ਸਗੋਂ ਮੁਸਲਮਾਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਲੱਖਾਂ ਕਰੋੜਾਂ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਨਵੀਂ ਜਿੰਦਗੀ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ . . ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੇ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ 

ਏਸਪੀ ਸਿੰਘ ਓਬੇਰਾਏ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਕੰਮ ਦੀ ਸ਼ੁਰੁਆਤ 1970 ਵਿੱਚ ਮੈਕੇਨਿਕ ਦੇ ਤੌਰ ਉੱਤੇ ਕੀਤੀ । 

1975 ਦੇ ਬਾਅਦ ਉਹ ਮੈਟੇਰਿਅਲ ਸਪਲਾਈ ਅਤੇ ਕੰਸਟਰਕਸ਼ਨ ਦੇ ਬਿਜਨੇਸ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜ ਗਏ । 18

 ਸਾਲ ਦੀ ਕੜੀ ਮਿਹਨਤ ਦੇ ਜੋਰ ਉੱਤੇ ਅੱਜ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਦੁਬਈ ਗਰੈਂਡ ਹੋਟਲ ਅਤੇ ਏਪੇਕਸ ਗਰੁਪ

 ਆਫ ਕੰਪਨੀਜ ਹੈ । ਇੱਥੇ ਨਹੀਂ , ਉਹ ਹੁਣ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦੀ ਸਭਤੋਂ ਉੱਚੀ ਇਮਾਰਤ ਬੁਰਜ ਖਲੀਫਾ ਵਿੱਚ 

ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ । ਓਬੇਰਾਏ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਕੈਦੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਮਦਦ ਲਈ ਅਕਸਰ ਯੂਏਈ ਦੀਆਂ ਜੇਲਾਂ ਦੇ ਚੱਕਰ 

ਲਗਾਉਂਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ । ਇਸ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਉਹ ਇੱਕ ਘਟਨਾ ਦਾ ਜਿਕਰ ਕਰਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਓਬੇਰਾਏ ਕਹਿੰਦੇ 

ਹਨ , ਯੂਏਈ ਵਿੱਚ 17ਭਾਰਤੀ ਕੈਦੀ ਜੇਲ੍ਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੰਦ ਸਨ । ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਂ - ਬਾਪ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਾਉਣ 

ਦੀ ਵਿਵਸਥਾ ਕੀਤੀ । ਓਬੇਰਾਏ ਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਇੱਕ ਲੰਮੀ ਕਾਂਟੇਕਟ ਲਿਸਟ ਹੈ । ਇਸਦੀ ਮਦਦ ਨਾਲ ਉਹ 

ਸਾਰੇ ਛੁੱਟੇ ਹੋਏ ਕੈਦੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਲਗਾਤਾਰ ਸੰਪਰਕ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ । ਜੇਕਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਸਮਾਂ 

ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਭਾਰਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਣ ਚਲੇ ਆਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ । ਉਹ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾ ਛੁੱਟਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਕੈਦੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ 

ਅਹਿਸਾਸ ਦਵਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਕਿ ਦੋਸ਼ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਜਿੰਦਗੀ ਬਰਬਾਦ ਹੋ ਗਈ । ਕੈਦੀ ਇਸ ਦੇ 

ਬਾਅਦ ਵਾਪਸ ਮਿਹਨਤ ਦੇ ਦਮ ਉੱਤੇ ਕਮਾਣ ਦੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ . . ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਇਸ ਮਹਾਨ 

ਆਦਮੀ ਨੂੰ ਸਲਾਮ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਜੋ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕੰਮ ਨਾ ਮਿਲਣ ਉੱਤੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਹੀ ਕੰਪਨੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਰੋਜਗਾਰ

 ਵੀ ਉਪਲੱਬਧ ਕਰਵਾ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ . . ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਟਰੱਸਟ ਸਰਬਤ ਦਾ ਭਲਾ ਹੁਣ ਤੱਕ 18 ਹਜਾਰ ਤੋਂ 

ਜ਼ਿਆਦਾ ਸਿੱਖ , ਹਿੰਦੂ , ਮੁਸਲਮਾਨ ਕਮਿਊਨਿਟੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਈ ਵਾਰ ਸਾਮੂਹਕ ਸ਼ਾਦੀਆਂ ਕਰਾ ਚੁੱਕੇ ਹਨ

ਵਰਤਮਾਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਹ ਆਰਥਕ ਰੂਪ ਨਾਲ ਕਮਜੋਰ 425 ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਮਦਦ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ 

ਅਤੇ ਕਈ ਅਸਪਤਾਲਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦਾਨ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ । ਉਹ ਬੁਜੁਰਗ ਕੈਂਸਰ ਪੀੜਤਾਂ ਲਈ ਘਰ ਬਣਵਾ ਰਹੇ 

ਹਨ । ਅਜਿਹੇ ਬੁਜੁਰਗ , ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਬੱਚੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਧਿਆਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ , ਉਹ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ 

ਖਿਆਲ ਰੱਖਣ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਬੰਦ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ।

ਬਰਤਾਨੀਆ 'ਚ ਉਸਾਰੀ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ ਥਾਵਾਂ 'ਤੇ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦਸਤਾਰ ਸਮੇਤ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਇਜਾਜ਼ਤ

ਲੰਡਨ, 8 ਅਪ੍ਰੈਲ - ਬਰਤਾਨੀਆ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਡੇਵਿਡ ਕੈਮਰੂਨ ਦੇ ਨਿਵਾਸ ਅਸਥਾਨ 10 ਡਾਊਨਿੰਗ ਸਟਰੀਟ 'ਤੇ ਵਿਸਾਖੀ ਸਬੰਧੀ ਸਾਲਾਨਾ ਸਮਾਗਮ ਕਰਵਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ, ਜਿਸ ਵਿਚ ਯੂ. ਕੇ. ਭਰ 'ਚੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਮੁੱਖ ਸਿੱਖ ਸ਼ਖ਼ਸੀਅਤਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਹਾਈ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨ ਲੰਡਨ ਰੰਜਨ ਮਿਥਾਈ, ਲਾਰਡ ਸਵਰਾਜ ਪਾਲ, ਲਾਰਡ ਨਵਨੀਤ ਢੋਲਕੀਆ ਡਿਪਟੀ ਲੀਡਰ ਲਿਬਰਲ ਡੈਮੋਕ੍ਰੇਟਿਕ, ਡਾ: ਰੰਮੀ ਰੇਂਜਰ, ਸਿੱਖ ਕੌਾਸਲ ਦੇ ਗੁਰਮੇਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਕੰਧੋਲਾ, ਦਵਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਸ਼ਿੰਦੀ ਏ ਵੰਨ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਗ੍ਰੇਵਜ਼ੈਂਡ ਗੁਰਦੁਆਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧਕ ਕਮੇਟੀ, ਰਾਜਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਪੁਰੇਵਾਲ (ਪੰਜਾਬ ਟਾਈਮਜ਼), ਗੁਰਪਾਲ ਸਿੰਘ ਉੱਪਲ ਤੇ ਹਿੰਮਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਸੋਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਸਿੰਘ ਸਭਾ ਸਾਊਥਾਲ ਆਦਿ ਸ਼ਾਮਿਲ ਹੋਏ | ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਡੇਵਿਡ ਕੈਮਰੂਨ ਨੇ ਸਿੱਖ ਭਾਈਚਾਰੇ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਸਾਖੀ ਦੀਆਂ ਵਧਾਈਆਂ ਦਿੱਤੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਬਰਤਾਨੀਆ ਲਈ ਬਹੁਤ ਵੱਡੀ ਦੇਣ ਹੈ | ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਐਲਾਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਕਿ ਅੱਜ ਤੋਂ ਉਸਾਰੀ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ ਥਾਵਾਂ 'ਤੇ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦਸਤਾਰ ਪਹਿਨ ਕੇ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਆਗਿਆ ਹੋਵੇਗੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਲੋਹ ਟੋਪ (ਸਖ਼ਤ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਅਤ ਟੋਪੀ) ਪਹਿਨਣ ਦੀ ਲੋੜ ਨਹੀਂ | ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਬਰਤਾਨੀਆ 'ਚ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਦਸਤਾਰ ਦਾ ਸਤਿਕਾਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਹਵਾਈ ਅੱਡਿਆਂ 'ਤੇ ਹੱਥਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਦਸਤਾਰ ਦੀ ਤਲਾਸ਼ੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਲਈ ਜਾਂਦੀ | ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਸਿੱਖ ਬਰਤਾਨਵੀਆਂ ਲਈ ਰੋਲ ਮਾਡਲ ਹਨ | ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਭਾਰਤ ਫੇਰੀ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਹਰਿਮੰਦਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਯਾਤਰਾ ਉਹ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਭਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਭੁੱਲ ਸਕਦੇ, ਉੱਥੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਚੈਨ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਹੈ | ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਜਾਣਦੇ ਹਨ ਕਿ ਜੂਨ 1984 ਦਾ ਸਾਕਾ ਨੀਲਾ ਤਾਰਾ ਕਿੰਨਾ ਦੁਖਦਾਈ ਸੀ | ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਇਹ ਵੀ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਹਰ ਜਗ੍ਹਾ ਨੁਮਾਇੰਦਗੀ ਹੋਵੇ ਫੌਜ ਵਿਚ ਵੀ ਅਤੇ ਨਿਆਂ ਵਿਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਵੀ | ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਅੱਜ ਤੋਂ 160 ਵਰ੍ਹੇ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਜਦੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾ ਸਿੱਖ ਬਰਤਾਨੀਆ ਵਿਚ ਆਇਆ ਸੀ, ਉਦੋਂ ਤੋਂ ਹੁਣ ਤੱਕ ਬਰਤਾਨਵੀ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਕਾਮਯਾਬੀ ਵਾਲਾ ਇਤਿਹਾਸ ਹੈ | ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਜੰਗ ਦੇ ਸਿੱਖ ਸ਼ਹੀਦਾਂ ਦਾ ਜ਼ਿਕਰ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ 12 ਲੱਖ ਭਾਰਤੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਜੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਬਰਤਾਨੀਆ ਲਈ ਲੜਾਈ ਲੜੀ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਬਹੁ-ਗਿਣਤੀ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੀ |

ਧੋਖੇ ਨਾਲ ਕਰਵਾਏ ਗਏ ਵਿਆਹਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਪੀੜਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਮਦਦ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਡਟੀ ਰੂਬੀ ਢਾਲਾ

ਨਵੀਂ ਦਿੱਲੀ, 1 ਨਵੰਬਰ - ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਮੂਲ ਦੀ ਸਾਬਕਾ ਕੈਨੇਡੀਅਨ ਸੰਸਦ ਮੈਂਬਰ ਰੂਬੀ ਢਾਲਾ ਨੇ ਪੰਜਾਬ 'ਚ ਧੋਖੇ ਨਾਲ ਕਰਵਾਏ ਗਏ ਵਿਆਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਿਕਾਰ ਹੋਈਆਂ ਲੜਕੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਮਦਦ ਲਈ ਇਕ ਮੁਹਿੰਮ ਦੀ ਸ਼ੁਰੂਆਤ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਮੁਹਿੰਮ ਨੂੰ ਇਕ ਸੰਸਥਾ 'ਡਰੀਮਜ਼ ਆਫ ਯੂ' ਵਲੋਂ ਚਲਾਇਆ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ, ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਮੁੱਖ ਉਦੇਸ਼ ਅਜਿਹੇ ਵਿਆਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਿਕਾਰ ਹੋਈਆਂ ਲੜਕੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਮਦਦ ਕਰਨਾ ਅਤੇ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਬਾਰੇ ਜਾਗਰੂਕ ਕਰਨਾ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ। ਢਾਲਾ, ਜੋ ਕਿ ਕੈਨੇਡਾ 'ਚ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਸਿੱਖ ਮੂਲ ਦੀ ਸੰਸਦ ਮੈਂਬਰ ਸੀ, ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਦੌਰੇ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਇਸ ਤਰਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਕਈ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਮਿਲੀਆਂ, ਜੋ ਇਸ ਤਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਝੂਠੇ ਵਿਆਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਸ਼ਿਕਾਰ ਬਣੀਆਂ ਹਨ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਜਦੋਂ ਮੈ 2009 'ਚ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਆਈ ਤਾਂ ਮੈ ਇਸ ਤਰਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਣ ਲਈ ਇਕ ਸਮਾਗਮ ਕਰਵਾਉਣ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ, ਅਤੇ ਮੈ ਸੋਚਿਆ ਕਿ ਸਿਰਫ 15 ਜਾ 20 ਔਰਤਾਂ ਹੀ ਸਮਾਗਮ 'ਚ ਆਉਣਗੀਆਂ, ਪ੍ਰੰਤੂ ਮੈ ਇਹ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਹੈਰਾਨ ਰਹਿ ਗਈ ਕਿ ਹਾਲ 'ਚ ਵੀ ਹਜ਼ਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਗਿਣਤੀ 'ਚ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਬੈਠੀਆਂ ਸਨ ਅਤੇ ਸੈਂਕੜੇ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਬਾਹਰ ਲਾਈਨ ਲੱਗੀ ਹੋਈ ਸੀ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਉਸ ਦਿਨ ਤੋਂ ਹੀ ਮੈ ਇਹ ਫੈਸਲਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਮੈ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਦੀ ਮਦਦ ਕਰਾਂਗੀ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਉਕਤ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਜੀਊਣਾ ਬਹੁਤ ਔਖਾ ਹੈ, ਨਾ ਉਹ ਇਧਰ ਦੀਆਂ ਰਹਿੰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਨਾ ਉਹ ਉਧਰ ਦੀਆਂ, ਅਤੇ ਅਜਿਹੀਆਂ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਲਈ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਹੁਰਿਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਮਾਪਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਰਹਿਣਾ ਔਖਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਇਸ ਸੰਸਥਾ ਵਲੋਂ ਵਿਆਹ ਦੇ ਰਜਿਸਟ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਨ ਲਈ ਜਾਗਰੂਕਤਾ ਫੈਲਾਉਣਾ, ਐਨ. ਆਰ. ਆਈ. ਵਿੰਗ ਦੀ ਸਥਾਪਨਾ ਅਤੇ ਅਜਿਹੇ ਮਾਮਲੇ 'ਚ ਫਸੀਆਂ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹਰ ਤਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਕਾਨੂੰਨੀ ਮਦਦ ਮੁਹੱਈਆ ਕਰਵਾਈ ਜਾਵੇਗੀ। ਢਾਲਾ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਭਾਵੇਂ ਇਸ ਮੁਹਿੰਮ ਦੀ ਸ਼ੁਰੂਆਤ ਪੰਜਾਬ 'ਚ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਹੋ ਚੁੱਕੀ ਹੈ, ਪ੍ਰੰਤੂ ਉਹ ਇਸ ਮੁਹਿੰਮ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਰੇ ਭਾਰਤ 'ਚ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਜਾਣਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਗਾਇਕ ਹਨੀ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਵੀ ਸ਼ਿਰਕਤ ਕੀਤੀ।

British PM hails role of Indian immigrants

Prime Minister David Cameron today said the thousands of Indians and other Asians who arrived in Britain after being expelled from Uganda 40 years ago had made an "extraordinary contribution" to the fabric of British life.

Responding to a question from Indian-origin Conservative MP Shailesh Vara in the House of Commons, Cameron said those in Britain who had opposed their immigration in 1972 were "completely wrong", and also lauded Vara's contribution to parliament.

Vara, MP from north-west Cambridgeshire, was born in Uganda and migrated to Britain with his family in the early 1970s.

Vara recalled that the then Conservative government had allowed the Uganda Asians to migrate here after being expelled by Idi Amin despite much opposition at the time in Parliament and other parts of the country.

In August 1972, the Uganda Indians were not welcome in the east Midlands city of Leicester, where over 10,000 of them migrated, and went on to prosper in one of the most remarkable success stories of the Indian diaspora.

The Leicester city council had then paid for advertisements in the Uganda press, informing that it was "in your own interests and those of your family... not come to Leicester".

As the community of Uganda Asians mark 40 years of their expulsion and immigration to Britain, the Leicester city council is planning to publicly thank them for transforming the city and region after facing racism and other hurdles as they rebuilt their lives.

Sundip Meghani, son of one of the many Indians expelled from Uganda, has proposed a motion in the same city council thanking the Indians and other Asians from Uganda for their contribution to the city.

 An English girl has hit the headlines in the UK for embracing the lifestyle of a devout Nihang Sikh.

Alexandra Aitken, daughter of disgraced British Cabinet Minister Jonathan Aitken, used to be better known for her addiction to parties and nightclubs. But Alexandra exchanged her tight dresses and plunging necklines for the more sober white tunic and five ‘K’s’, including the kirpan and the karha.

More recently, she was spotted in Punjab wearing a Nihang-style purple and white turban. She was clutching a tall spear in one hand and a bag of bananas in the other. It was in January last year when 32-year-old Alexandra surprised her family by announcing that she was marrying a Nihang Sikh - Ludhiana-bred Inderjot Singh, also known as Janbazz. Alexandra currently stays at Bani ashram, close to Anandpur Sahib, with her husband.
Shortly before her marriage, Alexandra changed her name to Harvinder, but when her husband said the name was meaningless, she changed it once again to Uttrang Kaur Khalsa, meaning victorious return of the warrior after battle.

Describing the first meeting with Janbazz, she said: "I was sitting on the roof of the Golden Temple at about 3am, and the most beautiful man I'd ever seen in my whole life walked in. He seemed 100 per cent man, gentle and intuitive and poetic and sensitive, but also extraordinarily strong and manly. And you don't see many of these around. So I was like: "Oh wow!"'

Following their wedding, her friends received an email message which read: “Hi, heavenly friends. A very funny forgiving huge hearted saintly hero was adventurous enough to marry me! We'll have celebrations in London and LA soon. Hope you'll join us.”

By her own admission, Utrrang said her parents were upset as they could not attend the wedding, which had been arranged at such short notice. But they were soon reconciled. “'When I said, "Daddy, I might be wearing a turban the next time you see me" it was a bit of a shock. But my father loves my husband - its impossible not to. He's happy for us,” she said.

Former Cabinet Minister Aitken tried suing the Guardian newspaper over an article about his links with Saudi arms dealers. But Aitken himself ended up in jail after he was found to have repeatedly lied. Uttrang's journey to Sikhism started after she moved to California where she studied yoga, subsequently explaining that it was always her destiny to become a yogi. In a newspaper interview last year, she explained her conversion to Sikhism. "I don't really think of Sikhism as a religion. It’s more a path for anyone who is looking for something more spiritual.”

"We live in a computer age where life is increasingly stressful . . .people are desperately trying to find a way to relax, to escape from everything. As I see it, you've got one of two options: you can either find a drug dealer, or you can find something that's going to give you a natural high. Everyone is looking for something. I've found Sikhism,” said Utrrang.

"But I didn't just jump on the first bus going. I did my homework; I've read just about everything," she said. "Frankly, if someone had told me 10 years ago, when I was living the party girl lifestyle in London, that a decade later I'd be a teetotal vegan (and living in an ashram) I wouldn't have believed them,” she quipped.

Alexandra Aitken’s new look — a spear clutched in one hand, a bag of bananas in the other, a dagger slung over her white tunic and iPod headphones tucked beneath a white and purple turban — is a far cry from the tight dresses she favoured in her days as an ‘It’ girl around London, the Mail Online reported.

The 32-year-old Alexandra took her family, including twin Victoria, by surprise when she announced in January last year that she was marrying a Sikh warrior. She also changed her name to Uttrang Kaur Khalsa.

She had first spotted Inderjot Singh in 2009 when she was practising yoga at the Golden Temple in Amritsar before meeting him on a second visit. Their wedding was arranged with such haste that her parents were unable to attend.

On her website, Alexandra says she lives with Nihang Sikhs — the sect to which her husband (Inderjot Singh) belongs — but is staying at an ashram run by a sect of yoga Sikhs in the village of Bani in Punjab.

ਲੰਡਨ, 23 ਅਗਸਤ (ਮਨਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਬੱਧਨੀ ਕਲਾਂ)-ਬਰਤਾਨੀਆ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਦਿਨੋਂ ਦਿਨ ਗੈਰ-ਕਾਨੂੰਨੀ ਢੰਗ ਨਾਲ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ 'ਤੇ ਸ਼ਿਕੰਜਾ ਕੱਸਿਆ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, ਕੱਲ੍ਹ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ਿਤ ਕੀਤੇ ਤਾਜ਼ਾ ਅੰਕੜਿਆਂ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ 150,000 ਲੋਕ ਗੈਰ-ਕਾਨੂੰਨੀ ਢੰਗ ਨਾਲ ਬਰਤਾਨੀਆ 'ਚ ਰਹਿ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ। ਜਦ ਕਿ ਯੂ. ਕੇ. ਬਾਰਡਰ ਏਜੰਸੀ ਕੋਲ ਕੁੱਲ ਪੁਰਾਣੇ ਕੇਸਾਂ ਸਮੇਤ 276,000 ਕੇਸ ਹਨ। ਮਈ ਤੋਂ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕੀਤੀ ਫੜੋ-ਫੜ੍ਹੀ ਦੀ ਮੁਹਿਮ ਵਿਚ ਹਜ਼ਾਰਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵਾਪਸ ਭੇਜਿਆ ਜਾ ਚੁੱਕਾ ਹੈ ਜਦ ਕਿ ਇਕੱਲੇ ਲੰਡਨ ਵਿਚੋਂ 2000 ਗੈਰ-ਕਾਨੂੰਨੀ ਢੰਗ ਨਾਲ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਡਿਪੋਰਟ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ। ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਬਹੁਤੀ ਗਿਣਤੀ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀ ਵੀਜ਼ੇ 'ਤੇ ਆਏ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੀ, ਜੋ ਆਪਣੀ ਵੀਜ਼ਾ ਮਿਆਦ ਲੰਘਾ ਚੁੱਕੇ ਸਨ। ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਭਾਰਤੀ, ਪਾਕਿਸਤਾਨੀ, ਬੰਗਲਾਦੇਸ਼, ਸ੍ਰੀਲੰਕਾ, ਚੀਨ, ਬਰਾਜ਼ੀਲ ਆਦਿ ਦੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਦੇ ਲੋਕ ਸ਼ਾਮਿਲ ਸਨ। ਇੰਮੀਗ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਨ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਡੋਮਿਨ ਗਰੀਨ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਵੀਜ਼ੇ ਦੀ ਮਿਆਦ ਲੰਘਾ ਚੁੱਕੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹੁਣ ਇਕ ਪੱਤਰ ਭੇਜ ਕੇ 30 ਦਿਨ ਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਚ ਖੁਦ ਦੇਸ਼ 'ਚੋਂ ਚਲੇ ਜਾਣ ਬਾਰੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ ਤਾਂ ਕਿ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਬਰਤਾਨੀਆ ਵਿਚ ਦੁਬਾਰਾ ਆਉਣ ਦਾ ਰਸਤਾ ਬੰਦ ਨਾ ਹੋਵੇ ਜਾਂ ਲੰਬੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਲਈ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ 'ਤੇ ਪਾਬੰਦੀ ਨਾ ਲੱਗੇ। ਬਰਤਾਨੀਆ ਦੀ ਵੱਡੇ ਸੁਪਰ ਸਟੋਰ ਟਿਸਕੋ ਦੇ ਕੋਰਾਇਡਨ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਕੱਲ੍ਹ 20 ਗੈਰ-ਕਾਨੂੰਨੀ ਵਿਅਕਤੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਗ੍ਰਿਫਤਾਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ ਜਦਕਿ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਿਰਧਾਰਿਤ ਸਮੇਂ ਤੋਂ ਜ਼ਿਆਦਾ ਸਮਾਂ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਦੋਸ਼ੀ ਪਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ। ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਇਕ ਹੋਰ ਛਾਪੇ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਚਾਰ ਭਾਰਤੀਆਂ ਸਮੇਤ 11 ਵਿਅਕਤੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਗ੍ਰਿਫਤਾਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਵੀ ਖ਼ਬਰ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਲੰਪਿਕ ਖੇਡਾਂ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਆਏ 7 ਅਫਰੀਕਨ ਖਿਡਾਰੀ ਵੀ ਰੂਪੋਸ਼ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਹਨ।

ਲੰਡਨ, 22 ਅਗਸਤ - ਵੀਜ਼ਾ ਨਿਯਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਉਲੰਘਣ ਨੂੰ ਰੋਕਣ ਲਈ ਚਲਾਈ ਮੁਹਿੰਮ ਤਹਿਤ ਇੰਗਲੈਂਡ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਨੇ ਗੈਰ-ਕਾਨੂੰਨੀ ਢੰਗ ਨਾਲ ਰਹਿ ਰਹੇ 700 ਭਾਰਤੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੇਸ਼ ਨਿਕਾਲਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ। ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ 'ਚ ਅਜਿਹੇ ਵੀ ਸ਼ਾਮਿਲ ਹਨ ਜੋ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀ ਵੀਜ਼ੇ 'ਤੇ ਇੰਗਲੈਂਡ 'ਚ ਆਏ ਸਨ ਅਤੇ ਵੀਜ਼ੇ ਦੀ ਮਿਆਦ ਖਤਮ ਹੋਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਵੀ ਇਥੇ ਹੀ ਰਹਿ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ। ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ 'ਅ੍ਰਪੇਸ਼ਨ ਮੇਐਪਲ' ਤਹਿਤ ਇੰਗਲੈਂਡ 'ਚੋਂ ਕੱਢਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਇਲਾਵਾ ਪਾਕਿਸਤਾਨ, ਬਰਾਜ਼ੀਲ, ਬੰਗਲਾਦੇਸ਼ ਅਤੇ ਚੀਨ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਵਾਪਸ ਆਪਣੇ ਦੇਸ਼ ਭੇਜ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ। ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਯੂ. ਕੇ. ਬਾਰਡਰ ਏਜੰਸੀ ਵਲੋਂ ਗੈਰ-ਕਾਨੂੰਨੀ ਢੰਗ ਨਾਲ ਇੰਗਲੈਂਡ 'ਚ ਰੁਕੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਵਾਸੀ ਵਿਅਕਤੀਆਂ ਖਿਲਾਫ ਕਾਰਵਾਈ ਲਈ ਇਸ ਸਾਲ ਮਈ ਦੇ ਮਹੀਨੇ 'ਚ ਇਕ ਮੁਹਿੰਮ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕੀਤੀ ਸੀ। ਇਕ ਅਨੁਮਾਨ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਕਰੀਬ ਦੋ ਤਿਹਾਈ ਲੋਕ ਤਾਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਮਰਜ਼ੀ ਨਾਲ ਇੰਗਲੈਂਡ ਛੱਡਣ ਲਈ ਰਾਜ਼ੀ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਸਨ ਜਦਕਿ ਇਕ ਤਿਹਾਈ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਲਪੂਰਵਕ ਕੱਢਿਆ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਗ੍ਰਹਿ ਮੰਤਰਾਲੇ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਲੰਡਨ 'ਚ ਕਰੀਬ ਗੈਰ-ਕਾਨੂੰਨੀ ਤਰੀਕੇ ਨਾਲ ਰਹਿ ਰਹੇ 2000 ਵਿਦੇਸ਼ੀਆਂ 'ਚੋਂ ਇਕ ਤਿਹਾਈ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਹਨ।

Case of Arvind Khanna's British citizenship adjourned to July 12
CHANDIGARH: The Union Home Ministry has confirned that Avtrar Henry former Congress minister and four time MLAS from Jalandhar is a foreign national and he has obtained the citizenship of United Kingdom.

Arora said that real name of Avtar Henry is Avtar Singh Sanghera and his father name in Indian records is Lakhbir Singh. However in his british passport, the name of his father is mentioned as Joginder Singh.

This was stated by H.C.Arora lawyer pf petitioner Ajay Sehgal who filed petition in the Punjab and Haryana High Court challenging Indian citizenship of Henry. Arora said that he was informed about the status of Henry's citizenship by Secretary in Union Home Ministry.

Arora in his petition has told the court that Henry who was four time MLA and remained cabinet minister in Punjab government was not an Indian citizen. He informed the court that Henry had voluntarily obtained british citizenship in January 1968. Hew got british passport on May 1, 1968 and he also travelled on this passport to India.

Arora said that real name of Avtar Henry is Avtar Singh Sanghera and his father name in Indian records is Lakhbir Singh. However in his british passport, the name of his father is mentioned as Joginder Singh.

The High Court had directed the Union Home Ministry and Foreign affairs minsitry to give report on status of citizenship of Avtar Henry.

Meanwhile, Punjab and Haryana High Court has adjourned till July 12 another similar petition filed against Dhuri MLA Arvind Khanna. His election has been challenged in the High Court by Gobind Singh Kanjhla defeated candidate of SAD. Kanjhla has claimed in the petition that Arvind Khanna is not an Indian Citizen and he holds British passport. He has demanded to cancel the election and order repoll in Dhuri.

Lakhwinder Singh Sidhu lawyer of petitioner said that judge Gurmit Singh Sandhawalia has adjourned the hearing to July 12.

दोहरी नागरिकता मामले में हेनरी दिल्ली तलब

जालंधर. सीनियर कांग्रेसी व राज्य के पूर्व कैबिनेट मंत्री अवतार सिंह हैनरी उर्फ अवतार सिंह संघेड़ा को दोहरी नागरिकता के मामले में गृह विभाग ने दिल्ली तलब किया है। हैनरी को 10 जुलाई को नई दिल्ली की जय सिंह रोड स्थित एनडीसीसी -2 बिल्डिंग स्थित डायरेक्टर (आईएंडसी) मिनिस्ट्री ऑफ होम अफेयर्स के दफ्तर में कमरा नंबर ए-107 में सुबह 11 बजे पेश होने को कहा गया है।

दिल्ली में उनसे दोहरी नागरिकता को लेकर सवाल-जबाव किए जाएंगे। गौर हो कि हैनरी के दो अवतारों की जांच क्राइम ब्रांच कर रही है। हैनरी की पहली पत्नी सुरिंदर कौर के बेटे गुरजीत सिंह संघेड़ा ने आरोप लगाया था कि उनके पिता की दोहरी नागरिकता है। गुरजीत सिंह ने आरोप लगाया था कि उनके पिता ब्रिटिश नागरिक हैं। हैनरी पर यह भी आरोप है कि उन्होंने बिना तलाक दिए दूसरी शादी की है। इस मामले की जांच क्राइम ब्रांच कर रही है।

अवतार हैनरी की पहली पत्नी के पुत्र गुरजीत सिंह संघेड़ा ने नवंबर २क्क्९ में दोहरी नागरिकता और बिना तलाक दूसरी शादी का आरोप लगाया था। २क्११ में यह फाइल बंद हो गई। उसके बाद अजय सहगल नामक शख्स ने यह मामला फिर से उठाया।

No service tax to be levied on NRI remittances: Finance Ministry

New Delhi, July 10

The Finance Ministry today clarified that no service tax would be levied on NRI remittances from overseas.

The clarification by the Central Board of Excise and Customs (CBEC), which functions under the Finance Ministry, follows concerns over reports that there was a move to levy 12 per cent tax on money sent back home by Indians abroad under the changed service tax regime from July 1.

The CBEC said in a circular “that the matter has been examined and it is clarified that there is no service tax per se on the amount of foreign currency remitted to India from overseas”. In the negative list regime, “service” excludes transaction in money. As the amount of remittance comprises money, the activity does not comprise a “service” and is not subjected to service tax, the circular clarifies.

It further added that “in case any fee or conversion charges are levied for sending such money, they are also not liable to service tax as the person sending the money and the company conducting the remittance are located outside India. Such services are deemed to be provided outside India and thus not liable to service tax”.

It has been further clarified that even the Indian counterpart bank or financial institution which charges the foreign bank for the services provided at the receiving end, is not liable to service tax as the place of provision of such service is outside India.

The clarification will alleviate concerns of NRIs as India is one of the top recipient of remittances ($64 billion in 2011), according to the World Bank data. Given the dire need for dollar at a time when current account deficit is high and Rupee is under pressure, any move to levy service tax on NRI remittances would have been disastrous.

CMs of Punjab and Kerala, which are among the states receiving the largest remittances from NRIs, had taken up the matter with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

M Rafeeque Ahmed, president, Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO), said that towards addressing the trade deficit, remittances were the single largest source of unconditional flow of foreign exchange into India, according to estimates by the World Bank. Given the slowdown and declining levels of foreign exchange, service tax could only act as a deterrent to precious incoming foreign exchange, he added.

He said the waiver of service tax on the same would ensure that this stable source of foreign exchange would continue to maintain the delicate balance of payments position of India at this moment of global crisis.

ਲੈਸਟਰ (ਇੰਗਲੈਂਡ), 25 ਜੂਨ - ਗੁਰਦੁਆਰਾ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੇਵ ਜੀ ਹੋਲੀ ਬੋਨਜ ਲੈਸਟਰ (ਯੂ. ਕੇ.) ਨੇ ਯੂ. ਕੇ. ਦੇ ਜੰਮਪਲ ਨੌਜਵਾਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦਾੜ੍ਹੀ ਕੇਸ ਰੱਖ ਕੇ ਸਿੱਖੀ ਸਰੂਪ ਵਿਚ ਆਉਣ ਦੀ ਅਪੀਲ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਦੂਸਰੇ ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਧਰਮਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਸੰਬੰਧਿਤ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਰਹਿਣੀ-ਬਹਿਣੀ ਤੋਂ ਅਤੇ ਸਿੱਖੀ ਬਾਣੇ ਤੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵਿਤ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਸਿੱਖ ਧਰਮ ਅਪਣਾਇਆ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ, ਜਦ ਕਿ ਸਾਡੇ ਸਿੱਖ ਨੌਜਵਾਨ ਸਿੱਖੀ ਤੋਂ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ। ਸ: ਬਸਰਾ ਅਤੇ ਗਿੱਲ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਸਾਡੇ ਨੌਜਵਾਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਅਜਿਹੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਸੇਧ ਕੇ ਲੈ ਸਿੱਖੀ ਸਰੂਪ ਅਪਣਾਉਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਕਤ ਆਗੂਆਂ ਨੇ ਲੈਸਟਰ ਕਬੱਡੀ ਕਲੱਬ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਕਬੱਡੀ ਟੂਰਨਾਮੈਂਟਾਂ ਲਈ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਤੋਂ ਬੁਲਾਈ ਗਈ ਕੇਸਾਧਾਰੀ ਸਿੱਖ ਨੌਜਵਾਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਟੀਮ ਦੀ ਵੀ ਕੇਸ ਰੱਖ ਕੇ ਖੇਡਣ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਲਾਘਾ ਕੀਤੀ।

LONDON, June 5, 2012  — The curtain fell Tuesday on a four-day extravaganza marking Queen Elizabeth II’s 60 years on the throne, culminating with deafening applause from the hundreds of thousands who gathered outside Buckingham Palace to catch a glimpse of the monarch on her world-famous balcony.
Britons tend to reserve displays of gushing patriotism for high-profile royal or sporting events, and at times during the jubilee festivities the landscape here almost morphed into a sea of Union Jack flags.

Millions of people braved rainy conditions (another great British tradition) to take in the largest pageant on the Thames in 350 years, street parties across the country, and a star-studded concert featuring the likes of Paul McCartney and Elton John.
But the mood was notably dampened when Prince Philip, the queen’s husband, was hospitalized Monday for a bladder infection.
The day before, the 90-year-old royal consort stood for four hours on an open-topped boat in blustery conditions, prompting commentators to ask whether the journey was too taxing for the former naval officer, who spent Christmas in the hospital recovering from a heart operation.
The indefatigable queen pressed on with events. With her husband hospitalized, she was accompanied Tuesday by Prince Charles and his wife, Camilla, in a horse-drawn carriage procession through central London. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, and Prince Harry, traveled close behind in a second carriage.
In a rare address to the nation, broadcast Tuesday evening, the 86-year-old monarch, who is as popular as she has ever been, said the outpouring of public support had “touched me deeply.”
In one of the most moving tributes to the queen, Charles, the heir to the throne, addressed her as “Your Majesty, Mummy,” before a crowd of about 500,000 revelers at the pop concert Monday night. “This is our opportunity to thank you and my father for always being there for us,” he said, “for inspiring us with your selfless duty and service and for making us proud to be British.”
Referring to his father, Charles told the crowd: “If we shout loud enough, he might just hear us in hospital.” The crowd roared: “Philip! Philip! Philip!”
While the queen is celebrating her Diamond Jubilee throughout the year, the past four days were billed as the main event. It included the lighting of 4,200 beacons across the globe from Kenya to Canada and on the highest peaks in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Some have criticized the glitzy celebrations at a time when Britain is in the throes of a recession, but many have welcomed them as a short reprieve from the gloomy headlines.
“It’s magical,” said Lynn Carr, 45, with her head cranked skyward as planes from the Royal Air Force roared over Buckingham Palace on Tuesday streaming red, white and blue trails of smoke.
“I think it’s good for the people,” said Carr, a local government official. “They need this.”
The queen is famously inscrutable, but during the wall-to-wall coverage here, royal watchers could spot her radiant smile on several occasions. She beamed, for instance, during Sunday’s river pageant upon spotting a horse puppet from the hit play “War Horse” rearing in tribute on the roof of the National Theatre.
“I think what we have seen, frankly, is the best of Britain,” Prime Minister David Cameron told the BBC on Tuesday. He added that there has been “a great resilience, people wanting to celebrate even though the weather has been pretty bad, and an extraordinary resilience on behalf of Her Majesty, who, in spite of all the problems and difficulties, has kept going with such incredible spirit.”

ਰਮਦਾਨ ਫਾਊਂਡੇਸ਼ਨ ਦੇ ਚੀਫ ਮੁਹੰਮਦ ਸਾਫੀਕ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਇਸ ਮਾਮਲੇ ਵਿਚ ਸ਼ਰਮ ਨਾਲ ਪਾਕਿਸਤਾਨੀ ਭਾਈਚਾਰੇ ਦੇ ਬਜ਼ੁਰਗਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਿਰ ਮਿੱਟੀ ਵਿਚ ਧਸ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਬ੍ਰਿਟਿਸ਼ ਪਾਕਿਸਤਾਨੀ ਭਾਈਚਾਰੇ ਵਿਚ ਵੱਡੀ ਸਮੱਸਿਆ ਹੈ। ਮਾਨਚੈਸਟਰ ਦੇ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਚੀਫ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਕੋਈ ਨਸਲੀ ਮਾਮਲਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ, ਬਲਕਿ ਵੱਡੀ ਉਮਰ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਛੋਟੀ ਉਮਰ ਦੇ ਬੱਚਿਆਂ ਦਾ ਸ਼ੋਸ਼ਣ ਕਰਨਾ ਹੈ। ਮਾਮਲੇ ਦੀ ਸੁਣਵਾਈ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਅਦਾਲਤ ਦੇ ਬਾਹਰ ਵੱਡੀ ਗਿਣਤੀ ਵਿਚ ਪੁਲੀਸ ਫੋਰਸ ਲਗਾਈ ਗਈ ਸੀ, ਇਸ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਸੰਬੰਧਿਤ ਦੋਸ਼ੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਦੋਵੇਂ ਟੇਕਅਵੇਅ ਦੀਆਂ ਦੁਕਾਨਾਂ ਤੇ 100 ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਹਮਲਾ ਕਰਕੇ ਭੰਨ-ਤੋੜ ਦੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਵੀ ਖ਼ਬਰ ਮਿਲੀ ਹੈ।

ਲੰਡਨ,9 ਅਪ੍ਰੈਲ - ਬਰਤਾਨੀਆ ਦੀ ਗ੍ਰਹਿ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਥਰੀਸਾ ਮੇਅ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਮਨੁੱਖੀ ਅਧਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਕਾਨੂੰਨ ਦੀ ਦੁਰਵਰਤੋਂ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਵਿਦੇਸ਼ੀ ਅਪਰਾਧੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੇਸ਼ 'ਚੋਂ ਕੱਢਣ ਲਈ ਕਾਨੂੰਨ 'ਚ ਸੋਧ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਸਕੀਮ ਬਣਾਈ ਜਾ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਬਾਰੇ ਗੱਲਬਾਤ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਥਰੀਸਾ ਮੇਅ ਨੇ ਮੀਡੀਆ ਨੂੰ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਸਖ਼ਤ ਇਮੀਗ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਨ ਕਾਨੂੰਨ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਗਰਮੀਆਂ 'ਚ ਆ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ। ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਜੱਜਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦਿਸ਼ਾ ਨਿਰਦੇਸ਼ ਜਾਰੀ ਹੋਣਗੇ। ਇਮੀਗ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਨ 'ਚ ਸਖਤੀ ਕਰਨ ਦੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਹਨ, ਸਿਰਫ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਲਈ ਹੀ ਇਹ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਦਾ ਵਿਸ਼ਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ, ਬਲਕਿ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਆਮ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਅੰਦਰ ਵੀ ਡਰ ਹੈ। ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਗਰਮੀਆ 'ਚ ਅਸੀਂ ਨਵੇਂ ਨਿਯਮ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਆਵਾਂਗੇ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਉਮੀਦ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਕਾਨੂੰਨ ਦੀ ਗਲਤ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਹੋਣੀ ਖ਼ਤਮ ਹੋ ਜਾਵੇਗੀ। ਗ੍ਰਹਿ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਈ ਮੇਲ, ਟੈਕਸਟ, ਫੋਨ ਤੇ ਇੰਟਰਨੈੱਟ ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਤੇ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਨਿਗ੍ਹਾ ਰੱਖਣ ਦੀ ਸਕੀਮ 'ਤੇ ਵੀ ਆਲੋਚਨਾ ਹੋ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਕਰਨ ਨਾਲ ਆਮ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਨਿੱਜੀ ਅਜ਼ਾਦੀ 'ਚ ਸਿੱਧਾ ਦਖ਼ਲ ਹੈ। ਇਮੀਗ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਨ ਮਸਲਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਮਾਹਿਰ ਵਕੀਲ ਹਰਜਾਪ ਸਿੰਘ ਭੰਗਲ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਸਬੰਧੀ ਸਕਾਈ ਟੀ ਵੀ 'ਤੇ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਗੱਲਬਾਤ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਕਾਨੂੰਨ ਬਣਾਏ ਜ਼ਰੂਰ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਖ਼ਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਲਾਗੂ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ।

ਲੰਡਨ, 8 ਅਪ੍ਰੈਲ - ਬਰਤਾਨੀਆ 'ਚ ਲੰਡਨ ਦੀ ਮੈਟਰੋਪੋਲਿਟਨ ਪੁਲਿਸ 'ਚ ਨਸਲਵਾਦ ਨੂੰ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਲਗਾਤਾਰ ਵਿਵਾਦ ਚੱਲ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਫਰੀਡਮ ਆਫ ਇਨਫਰਮੇਸ਼ਨ ਐਕਟ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ 'ਚ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਕਿ 120 ਪੁਲਿਸ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀ ਨਸਲਵਾਦ ਦੇ ਦੋਸ਼ਾਂ 'ਚ ਦੋਸ਼ੀ ਪਾਏ ਗਏ ਹਨ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ 'ਚੋਂ ਸਿਰਫ ਇੱਕ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਮੁਅੱਤਲ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ, ਜਦਕਿ ਸਿਰਫ 12 ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਲਿਖਤੀ ਨੋਟਿਸ, 21 ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਅਨੁਸ਼ਾਸਨ ਭੰਗ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਨੋਟਿਸ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ। ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ 'ਚੋਂ 8 ਨੂੰ ਜੁਰਮਾਨਾ, 6 ਨੂੰ ਜਬਰੀ ਅਸਤੀਫਾ ਦੇਣ ਲਈ ਕਿਹਾ ਗਿਆ। ਪਿਛਲੇ ਤਿੰਨ ਸਾਲਾਂ 'ਚ ਇਕੱਲੇ ਲੰਡਨ 'ਚ 1339 ਪੁਲਿਸ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਖਿਲਾਫ਼ ਨਸਲਵਾਦ ਦਾ ਵਿਵਹਾਰ ਕਰਨ ਦੇ ਦੋਸ਼ ਲੱਗੇ ਹਨ। ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੌਟਿੰਘਮਸ਼ਾਇਰ ਦੇ ਇੱਕ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਅਫਸਰ ਨੇ ਫੇਸਬੁੱਕ 'ਤੇ ਇੱਕ ਕੰਪਨੀ ਦੇ ਭਾਰਤ ਸਥਿਤ ਕਾਲ ਸੈਂਟਰ ਦੇ ਸਟਾਫ ਬਾਰੇ ਨਸਲੀ ਟਿਪਣੀ ਕੀਤੀ, ਜਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਬਾਅਦ 'ਚ ਅਨੁਸ਼ਾਸਨ ਭੰਗ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਕਾਰਵਾਈ ਦਾ ਸਾਹਮਣਾ ਕਰਨਾ ਪਿਆ। ਲੰਡਨ 'ਚ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਮੂਲ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਸਮੇਤ ਵੱਡੀ ਗਿਣਤੀ 'ਚ ਹੋਰ ਮੁਲਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਲੋਕ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਏਸ਼ੀਆਈ ਮੂਲ ਦੇ ਸਾਂਸਦ ਕੀਥ ਵਾਜ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਮੈਟਰੋਪੋਲੀਟਨ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਵਿਚ ਅੱਜ ਵੀ ਕਾਫੀ ਗਿਣਤੀ ਵਿਚ ਕਾਲੇ ਅਤੇ ਏਸ਼ੀਆਈ ਮੂਲ ਦੇ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਘਾਟ ਹੈ। ਸਕਾਟਲੈਂਡ ਯਾਰਡ ਦੇ ਇਕ ਸੀਨੀਅਰ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਇਸ ਮੁੱਦੇ 'ਤੇ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਨੂੰ ਪਿਛਲੇ ਇਕ ਦਹਾਕੇ ਤੋਂ ਦਿੱਤੀਆਂ ਜਾ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਚਿਤਾਵਨੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਅਸਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਇਆ। ਮੈਟਰੋਪੋਲੀਟਨ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਦੇ ਉਪ ਮੁਖੀ ਕ੍ਰੇਗ ਮਕੇ ਦਾ ਕਹਿਣਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਨਸਲਵਾਦ ਨੂੰ ਬਰਦਾਸ਼ਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ। ਡਰਾਉਣਾ ਧਮਕਾਉਣਾ, ਦੁਰਵਿਹਾਰ, ਹਮਲਾ ਜਾਂ ਮਾਰ ਕੁੱਟ ਨਸਲਵਾਦੀ ਰਵੱਈਏ ਤਹਿਤ ਆਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਲੰਡਨ ਦੇ ਮੇਅਰ ਨੇ ਵੀ ਮੰਨਿਆਂ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਗੰਭੀਰ ਮਾਮਲਾ ਹੈ। ਬੀਤੇ ਦਿਨੀ ਇੱਕ ਪਾਕਿਸਤਾਨੀ ਮੂਲ ਦੇ ਰੈਸਟੋਰੈਂਟ ਦੇ ਮੈਨੇਜਰ ਨਾਲ ਕੀਤਾ ਨਸਲੀ ਵਿਤਕਰਾ ਅੱਜ-ਕਲ੍ਹ ਕਾਫੀ ਚਰਚਾ 'ਚ ਹੈ।

Over thousand Gurdwaras around the world celebrate 2nd Sikh Environment Day

Today is the anniversary of Guru Har Raibecoming the seventh Guru of the Sikhs (this type of anniversary is called a Gurpurab)  in 1644.  Among the aspects of his legacy that Sikhs remember today was this Guru’s love for the natural world.

Washington : As many as 1007 Sikh institutions and gurdwaras around the world celebrated March 14, the day nature and animal lover Guru Har Rai became the seventh Sikh Guru in 1644, as Sikh Environment Day.

EcoSikh, a Washington based Sikh organization, which had initiated the celebrations last year had set the goal of enrolling more than 700 Sikh institutions and gurdwaras to celebrate the day this year as compared to 450 last year.

This year it had also included Sikh run schools and Sikh-owned businesses to join in this endeavour.

Dr. Rajwant Singh, president of EcoSikh said: "It is amazing to see so much enthusiasm among Sikh masses and we believe that is perhaps the largest direct action by the Sikhs for the environment ever in the history.

"Guru Har Rai's life has inspired so many individuals to lead efforts at the local levels in India and all across the globe to take meaningful actions dedicated to this day."

Bandana Kaur, New York based programme director of EcoSikh in North America, said: "Many Gurdwaras are engaging in the local environmental issues in North America in their own localities and many are becoming eco-friendly in their operations."

Scores of young people are excited about this effort since it gives them the opportunity to relate to their faith in a unique way. South Hall based largest gurdwara in Europe has organized a major green drive on this day."

Sri Akal Takhat Sahib and Takhat Hazur Sahib in Nanded, Maharasthra, and Sikhs in several countries including USA, Australia, Canada, China, Singapore, Malaysia, Argentina, Nigeria, Kenya and UK joined in the effort to mark the Sikh Environment Day as a tribute to Guru Har Rai, EcoSikh said.
